The Hope Accelerator Program
Event Overview
Our world has become increasingly complex and challenging. Across Africa and beyond, we face persistent conflicts, economic instability, the lasting impact of colonial legacies, climate change, public health crises, and social inequalities. Political and social tensions often make it difficult to find common ground. At a personal level, many have endured intergenerational trauma, displacement, and hardships, yet have also shown immense resilience and strength. Through it all, the power of hope has been a vital force in sustaining individuals and communities.
The Hope Accelerator is a transformative workshop designed to empower participants with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to cultivate personal and collective hope. By strengthening our capacity to face adversity with resilience and creativity, we can navigate life’s challenges with renewed purpose.
A Four-Part Journey to Hope and Growth
This interactive series introduces “four gates to the cultivation of hope” with a focus on personal reflection, cultural wisdom, community sharing, and practical application in everyday life.
Through guided discussions, exercises, and tools, participants will explore:
- The Search for Meaning: Drawing inspiration from African philosophies of Ubuntu (humanity and interconnectedness) and scholars like Viktor Frankl, we will explore how meaning sustains hope.
- The Power of Gratitude: Learning from indigenous traditions and faith-based practices, we will examine how gratitude fosters resilience and strengthens hope.
- Growth Through Crisis: Using research on post-traumatic growth, we will reflect on how individuals and communities recover from hardship and transform pain into purpose.
- Active Hope and Goal Setting: Based on Hope Science, we will explore strategies to set meaningful goals, build pathways to success, and cultivate personal and collective agency.
Hope is not just an emotion—it is a practice and a skill. Join us for this unique opportunity to reconnect with the power of hope and learn how to cultivate it in your own life and community.
“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” – Desmond Tutu

Read out some testimonies from past participants in the series
The sessions on hope led me to see this topic from new perspectives which in turn led to my own spiritual growth. It was delivered through various modes: lectures, video clips, interactive work in small groups and group discussions. I took the course mainly to glean ways to support my adult son who is steeped in hopelessness. I learned some new ways, both practical and philosophical, to not only guide him but also to strengthen my own hope and leadership as a parent in these troubling times ~Leanne

Ronnie, your workshop was A+, both emotionally personal and intellectually challenging. I learned from the content. I was mentally and emotionally stimulated by the design of the materials and mixing individual work, sharing, videos and your compassionate guidance. Thank you so much for exponentially increasing my understanding and how to achieve greater hope. Everyone young and old would benefit from your workshop!~Rachael A. Freed, author of “Your Legacy Matters ”and “Women’s Lives, Women’s Legacies: Passing Your Beliefs and Blessings to Future Generations”
